Default skish

YouTube - Skishing

I thought this was fun, don't know if it's been posted before....my goal for this season is to skish a bunch before I get too old...5mm jumpsuit is coming this week...just don't want to drag a kayak around so this might work for most of the spots that I frequent and I guess it's the logical next step from just swimming out to spots, there weren't THAT many shark sightings last year ....were there?....fortunately there's not much boat traffic in any of my spots....need to find someone else to take the plunge too

Hope I don't hook you on any of my casts while I'm standing on a rock.

Melnyk is an animal of the best sort.

Btw, 5mm is a bit thin for skishing, least by Melnyks preference and what I've found myself. I know his suit is 8mm at least so that he gets a nice bouyant float. Few times i tried it in my 5mm i was barely bobbing at the surface. however, a little of mother natures bobberin the form of belly fat might equate to a mm or 2 lol

I was debating the thickness Arden, long walks sometimes, comfort and mobility all factors..were you warm enough or was it just a bouyancy issue?..I like to suit up at the house so I can jump out of the car and go when I get there, don't want to expire before I get there...it came in the mail today, nice fit very flexible...I doubt you'll see me bobbing around much out front ....but for calm nights down at the beach and up the river and bay where I live now it should do the trick I think, at least make things more interesting...I imagine a hooded vest will be a good addition and provide some extra bouyancy and I can pull it off if I'm just rock hopping...Chobot told me he was up for it too when I was at the shop today...don't think the Spheros will do it Beaver, that little thing with the magnets does not like to get wet...been fondling the 250....I did notice the guy in the clip point out that he was throwing a 704 or 704 while skishing...

I skished a couple times last year, its crazy, fun and scary. Practice at spots you know or even the beach. Casting is odd to say the least.

I used a 7mm farmer john and 3mm jacket, had plenty of float but think thats due to mother nature and working in the restaurant business. I do also weara hood if its windy or just colder, 3mm gloves too. Dive boots work great and fins with screws in the bottoms of them, so you still can stand on rocks. Makes it alot easier than trying to swim with a rod in one hand and using the other to paddle.

I was also warm in the water, but some days it was sooooo hot getting to the spot, a few wuick dips in the water helps to cool you down.

Ill be skishing with you this year Scott. I have a few great places in mind. east bay areas, colt state park, behind RWU, carr point, coalmine.

I only caught some small schoolies and one keeper but its cool and interesting.

I have a pair of dive boots kicking around somewhere Scott if you want to try them out. I don't need them.
