First its spelled "Pitcher" not "Picture". Yes the Yankees are in 1st and will win the division congrats on that. But in October anything can happen, This isn't the baseball of old where there is the "Yankees" then "everyone else". I think you went a little Yankee happy with your predictions. Sounds a little Lop-sided to me. Zach Grenkie is definitely up there for the CY Young award. |

With all the names being mentioned for MVP. The only one I can't agree with is Joe Mauer. Anyone who's home field is made of ASTRO TURF should be batting over 400. It is not fair to other ball players, the way that baseball shoots across that stuff, it's like bouncing a baseball on cemet. Here is some stats, to prove my point: Mauer at home 376 Jeter at home 320 Mauer .56 better Mauer away 354 Jeter away 341 Mauer ONLY .13 better I didn't reasearch any of the other hitters, just used the MVP award for an example. ASTRO TURF should not figure into the MVP. Even if Mauer won the award with the away average, HOW COULD HE BE THAT VALUABLE to a team that could end up losing more games than they won. |

Personally I feel Jeter's numbers can't compare to Mauer's, regardless of home playing surface. I'd give the upper hand to Mauer because he is a catcher and endures a whole season of catching and continues to hit well. The driving factor behind Jeter would have to be the Yankees' great success. I hate to say it, but they are just tearing through teams. It would also be nice to see Jeter win one, since he hasn't, and has had such a great career. All this coming from a Yankee Hater. I'd lean towards Mauer, but it will be close. |
