Want from a 32 inch 720i TV to a 42 inch 1080p TV today and my life is measurably improved. Particularly since its winter. If you've got the winter blues.......get a better TV! |

I have Comcast. You're right, some programs look noticably better than others even though both may claim to be "HD". |

This HD stuff is driving the cost of watching tv way to high. I now have a $200.00 portable RCA ac/dc COLOR tv thats only serves as a $200.00 radio. I'd like to tell them what they can do with their "Technology".

But the picture feels so much smoother. ESPN HD Sportscenter is an example of a show with a really high quality picture (broadcast in 720p), better (to my eyes) then a lot of 1080i stations. |

I believe it refers to the refresh rate of the image rather than the resolution. 1080p/i is more relevant in regards to gaming systems as they have a lot more going on than what is broadcast through a cable box.

Pete did you get a plasma/lcd/led TV? I have a 42 inch 720p LCD in my bedroom and a 50 inch lcd 1080p in my living room. But I am going to be upgrading the living room with a projector that casts a 120 inch image onto my wall. (I have a inside hook up at best buy...) I can't even imagine watching a game on a old rear projection television.
