Default Problems with Accurate reels ???

So I will try and keep it short. I wanted to buy a new kick--s spinning reel for fishing in the canyons and the random bft I come across. I went to every know site doing research between Accurate Twin Spin 30H and the big Stella from Shimano. I read many positives and some negatives about both but decided to go with the Accurate because I thought it was more simple in design and frankly much better looking. Well thanks to our good friends Foxw--ds in Ct I came into a little bit of money. Well instead of just going online and buying one from Melton’s, Capt. Harry's, etc... I decided to buy local (with $$$) and support the local guys. Same price and I would always rather give money to someone I can put a face to. Anyway I went to Salt Waters Edge in Middletown, R.I. who I have always had a good relationship and purchased the reel. Well they were out of stock and said it would take two weeks (who cares this was January in R.I. no fishing) Anyway the reel comes in after two weeks and I opened the box and spun the handle a few times and right back in the box it goes. Two more weeks go by and I decide to go buy a custom jigging rod to go with the new beauty. That’s when the sh-t hit the fan. I tried tighten down the drag but regardless of how hard I tried the spool just kept spinning. I took the brand new, still in the box, with no line ever put on the spool reel back down to Salt Waters Edge two and half weeks ago and showed them the problem. After all of us looking at the reel we all determined it was miss machined at the factory. They handled it perfectly like they always do and said a new reel would be done asap. Well NOT by any doing from Salt Waters Edge (nothing but positive things to say about these guys) I still do not have the reel. They have tried their hardest but Accurate seems to be in slow motion. The only thing that I requested during this process was not to get a repaired brand new reel. If the reel had been used or damaged somehow by me that would be one thing but with this being never used I insisted on a completely new reel. I even memorized the serial number just in case. So almost 7 weeks after the original date of purchase and I do not have a working, hell any reel in my garage. What would you do? What should Accurate have done or do? Does anyone have similar experiences with Accurate? What if this was mid season and our seasons only last about 4 months? Am I being unreasonable? So to rambling on. I just thought everyone should know what is going on with a brand new, never used or tampered with Accurate Twin Spin 30H.

In closing, I’m looking for advice and also want people to be aware. I will post the outcome and if positive (that’s is going to be tough at this point unless someone pulls a rabbit out of their a--) will post how Accurate concludes this process.

Once again Salt Waters Edge has done NOTHING wrong and would HIGHLY recommend these guys for anything

PS: My wife is an attorney

Default We're Trying

Jeff,

We're REALLY sorry about this whole ordeal. I know the guys have been trying all along to put pressure on Accurate to produce a new reel. We've also been trying to get in touch with our rep to see if any other dealer might have the reel in-stock so we can get the replacement to you as soon as possible.

This has been far less than ideal, but rest assured we'll continue doing whatever we can to resolve this issue. I have a brand new reel (unfortunately not a twinspin) that's pretty comparable in performance that you're more than welcome to use in the interim Jeff, say the word and we'll get it right out to you so you'll at least have something to fish with.

Again, our sincere apologies for this ongoing issue.

I am happy to report that Accurate stepped up and did the right thing. The new reel is at the dealer and ready to be picked up. They have inspected the reel and say everything is perfect. I'm happy that this was resolved quickly once I posted I just wish it would have not had to get to that point for things to be expeditied. Once again I stand 100% beyond the dealer Salt Waters Edge and would recommend them for anything.

Thanks

J
