I get that, but there's the distinction between stamps(which the RI licensing is suposed to guarantee will never occur on the salt?) and freshwater license and "trout waters" are designated and likely stocked...the fw license covers all species with a surcharge(stamp) on some....if that's the standard, the "sw license" should be required and cover for ALL sw fishing and then if they decide to stamp certain species they can/or not...as they do w/ fw

I know that it's inane but there's no continuity based on what the NOAA guy told you...which tells me he's a bureaucrat and not a scientist(or a fisherman)...why was there even an option on the website andromodous yes/no and why is it a question when obtaining the permission from on high if it is a "Saltwater Angling Registry"?....that's a rhetorical question

So when we go out fishing and a squirrel chaser approaches us are we supposed to present our NOAA ID, Freshwater license, Driver's license, passport, social security #, along with two other forms of ID, and say that we are citizens of the US?

Citizenship is the only optional thing.
Funny thing about that, as I drive around looking for active construction sites to inquire about work, I need to bring an interpreter with me.

On January 12, 2007, President Bush signed the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Reauthorization Act of 2006.
Our elected officials had plenty of time to challenge it and did nothing.
We the people had plenty of time to contact these officials and urge them to protect our rights and for the most part did nothing.
If something is taken from you don't blame others blame yourself for allowing it to happen.

If you click "no", the next question is, Although you will not be targeting anadromous species*, if you catch an anadromous fish, you need to be registered. Therefore, NOAA recommends that if you will be fishing in tidal waters where you might catch an anadromous fish, then you should go ahead and register.

So I clicked "no" here too and it came back with, Dear Detractor, We know where you live.... The quiz ended and there was a knock on the door...

Default Not a costal resident...even less rights!

While all of you that live on the cost of the USA certainly have more access to the tidal water, you are not the ones that will really be getting the short end of this smelly stick. I live in PA and fish in NJ, NY, and MA. I'd like to make it to RI and CT someday. Not being a resident of a state that will issue a saltwater license I will be required to pay for a non-resident license wherever I fish, AND I will never be able to purchase a lifetime license to protect myself from the increases that are sure to come.

The ocean belongs to us all...how did we let this right become a privilege?!
