Default Good or bad bucktail?

Greater then 7" hair at the end, 6"+ hair for a several inches, then it drops to 5 and eventually 4. (DO NOT under-estimate how rare 6" hair is) Overall the tail is kind of sparse and a little ratty at spots. BUT the length makes it, in a rough estimate, one out of several thousand.

Welcome to the world of grading tail and deciding whether it makes the cut to go on the wall.

You decide. Would you want this to show up in your order or would you want to see this on the wall?

I'd prefer to see it in the bargain bin rather than on the wall. ron-fish

I don't find myself tying very many really large flys. I usually am tying clousers and decievers on size 1 and 1/0, maybe 2/0 hooks. So I don't usually find that I need really long bucktail.

However, I would bet good money that there are a bunch of guys that tie big flys that would kill to get a bucktail with this kind of length.

It's all perspective!

Never has there been a more polarizing bucktail...

People standing side by side at the shop can't come to a conclusion on this one.

I would prefer to see that bucktail on the hoof with my rifle in hand!

I'd like to see it in my bucktail bin for sure! Great color and it has the length that is rare. I only use the really long stuff for the tail section on larger Hollow Fleyes, so I don't use huge quanities of it on 1 fly.
