While I am partial to the Farmington River the Deerfield is a great river as well. And "scenic" does not adequately describe fall along Rt 2 in Western MA

I still drop almost $5 on a fishing mag from time to time and I still have the same feeling when I have finished it 20 minutes later....barely worth it.

Fished Martha's Vineyard earlier this week and saw an amazing display of finicky feeding. The bass were feeding aggressively just below the surface. At first it was hard to ID the bait because they were driving it up from the bottom and turning on it; much like a trout taking an emerger from the film. The striper/trout knows there is no escape route and feeds confidently.
