While I am partial to the Farmington River the Deerfield is a great river as well. And "scenic" does not adequately describe fall along Rt 2 in Western MA
The Fly Fisherman Magazine has a good overview.http://www.flyfisherman.com/content/deerfield-river
I saw this when it first came out in 2007 in Edible Rhody; but happened across it recentlly and thought I would share it. http://www.ediblecommunities.com/rho...s/onTheBay.pdf
There is a lot of truth in these words. http://singlebarbed.com/2010/07/28/t...e-whole-again/
I still drop almost $5 on a fishing mag from time to time and I still have the same feeling when I have finished it 20 minutes later....barely worth it.
I can recall the handful of articles that taught me someting that I could retain (ya I know) and use. Most things penned by Kenney Abrames. My man Tom Keers

Fished Martha's Vineyard earlier this week and saw an amazing display of finicky feeding. The bass were feeding aggressively just below the surface. At first it was hard to ID the bait because they were driving it up from the bottom and turning on it; much like a trout taking an emerger from the film. The striper/trout knows there is no escape route and feeds confidently.
Here's the best image I could muster in the glare.
Great overview article on Fly Rodding the Ocean State by good friend Tom Keer.http://www.flyfisherman.com/content/...r-little-rhody
