Permit everywhere

Really it was like looking at a fishing show except I was in the show and I wasn't catching them, not one, I even went as far as casting a live finger mullet over a branch and letting it flop on the top 3 ft from a permit that was 25 pounds. It scared the permit. Sunday we saw at least 100 between 10 and 30 pounds. They were all over the mangroves in the river here on base. We did manage to get three runs. One large cuda that tied Russ up up in a broken tree and broke his steal, one small cuda that found it's way on to a shark hook the next day (maybe 5 pounds) and one super huge, gigantically large, scary big something or other. It hit while crossing a small cove about 300 yards wide and took me at least 75 yards into the mangroves. The reel was heating up and I couldn’t stop it. There was absolutely no stopping it. I think it was a big... who knows maybe a blue marlin, yah that's what it was a big blue marlin.. I was marlin fishing and lost a big one. I'll get it Saturday when I head out.
Anyway ran out of live bait and the wind picked up to about 30 knots so we called it quits.
