My "best" day of fly rodding in Little Rhody occurs in the early spring. It starts behind the Ocean Mist at Carpenters Bar. I wade for the first schoolie stripers. They are covered in sea lice and will take a slower than slow shrimp fly on the bottom. It's typically a chilly day with a grey sky; but when that first schoolie tugs on the line it's clear that the fix is in and the best is yet to come. Spring is here!
