  1. A Sufcasting Puzzle

    by , 05-07-2012 at 11:30 PM
So I go fishing tonight. I work my way around a few spots at the last one I get a hit on the first cast. Second cast, hit in the same spot. Third cast I hook and land a 10 lb bass.

I casted all around that area for the next hour or more and not a bump.

So it begs the question- was there only one fish there and it was really hungry or were there others that were either spooked when I hooked the first or just had lockjaw?

I will say that the water was ...

I have caught a couple of schoolies this year, mostly goofing off. About to get down to more serious business. It's nice that we have an early season this go around.

Not really a lot new his year gear wise. I haven't seen a lot of new plugs that interest me. Last year I fished bucktails a ton.

I'll post a few interesting ones I have picked up.

I'll be targeting larger fish this year. That is my mission.

  3. History repeats itself I suppose?

April 20, 1956- Apparently my great grandfather (Aubrey Wornham) was showing "moving pictures" of striped bass fishing on the Cape for the local folks. He owned a gun/tackle shop in Townsend, MA many, many moons ago.

Interestingly enough I was too young to hit the suds with him (although he did take me fishing as a kid) and although my Dad taught me to fish (thanks again) I'll out catch pops on striped bass 10-1 (he'll dispute this) and 20-1 if its plug fishing!

  4. Surfcasting hurts

Literally sometimes. I took two hard falls this past season. One was early in the season out at Sachuest. I was tired and tripped over a rock wading. Fell and all my weight came down on a (barely) submerged rock, right on the shin. Took a strip of flesh probably 4 inches long and deep, in addition to destroying another set of waders. 50* salt water in gushing into that wound doesn't feel swell. I'll have that scar to remind me for life.

Second was on the Vineyard, I wasn't ...

  5. I love winter...

by , 01-26-2012 at 03:13 PM (Working On The Edge - An Employee's Take)
I know it might sound crazy, but winter is the time I'm able to work on new projects and "catch up" on a lot of software updates and such for the business. This winter is starting to have a really good "feel" to it as well. Lot's of work getting done. Some behind the scenes changes that should start to pay off for our clients.

A quick list of some of the highlights.

    - lots and lots and lots of sql development ...
