VM150 Spinning Reel

The new VM150 features a changeable left- or right-hand retrieve, holds 350 yards of 30-pound braided line and can handle up to 30 pounds of drag stopping power. It's the strongest, most affordable reel in its class. The aluminum and stainless steel construction of the VM150 create more than enough strength to tackle big and exotic fish and the precision gears and smooth drag performance make it the perfect go-to reel from boat or from shore.

Interesting reel. Not sure there's much else out there quite like it. Craig C came down today and we shot a video that shows how to convert the VM150 to manual bail (a pretty straightforward process). I came away impressed, feeling this is really a very solid reel. I found the size of the shaft and the main gear (both of which you can see in the video) to be pretty impressive.

Check the video out on the VM150 page:

Awesome video. Great to see the mechanics of a reel.

The charter I have been using on the cape every year has had
these reels, and for good reason I would imagine. I doubt any charter
captain is going to put equipment on the deck that doesn't save them time and money.

I have landed countless mid 20# fish on these reels and those drags were super smooth.

The only note to make is that they are roughly 10 oz heavier than a VS150, so keep
that in mind when you go to pair it with a rod. The VM150 is about the same weight as the VS200.

I was surprised at the weight of the reel. It does appear to be a very well built reel, i know a guy who loves it. He doesn't get too wet and uses it a lot at the canal.
