Best reels in the surf

These reels have proven over the years that they are tops in my book! True tanks that will withstand all that you, and any fish in the surf, can dish out. Although they cost alot more than your average reels, with yearly service you have a reel that will last a lifetime. Invest in one, you wont be dissapointed!!

this is a great reel. It cranks the fish in when needed and is very smooth. The bailess feature helps a lot also.

Pros: bailess, sealed
Cons: price

Worth the money!

This was my first VS and I have been nothing less than impressed. Reel has taken quite a few dunkings with no problems. Going bailess took some getting used to but once you make the switch you will never go back to using a bail.

My baby!!!

I absolutely love this reel! The manual bail is a great feature. The drag system is really nice and smooth. Line capacity is huge especially with braided lines. The one major thing that I like the most is that you don't have to clean every little nook an cranny after a day out in the surf! an little spray with WD40 will do. After a couple of trips give it a rinse in freshwater. Once you try one of these reels you won't stop thinking about it!

The Van Staal VS200 Series of spinning reels one of our best sellers year after year. In my minde it's the most versatile of all the VS reels. This reel is sized to go on a variety of rods. It's also geared to provide a moderate retrieve and plenty of power. When choosing which size Van Staal to go with, most searches start with the VS200 and then see if the application justifies dropping back to the 150 or up to the 250 or 275.
In between a VS150 and VS250, this reel is a good middle of the road type of reel for the boater and surfcaster. Ample line capacity and a good 33.5"/turn retrieval rate will be able to handle most fish you'll encounter. You can always go up or down a size, but the VS200 spinning reel is a safe choice.
