We have been fortunate to work with many great fly tiers over the years. In the past we hosted an annual Fly Tying Fair where many of the regions best saltwater tiers gathered to share their expertise and passion. Numerous patterns have been developed for Rhode Island waters of particular note the Abrames series of flat wings, Rays Fly and the White Water Witch.
Growing up I remember getting so excited to visit my local bait and tackle and comb over the fly tying materials aisle in search of "just the right thing" for the recipe I was following or the new pattern I wanted to make. Little did I know then that the advent of the internet and proliferation of innovative materials would result in the incredible variety and depth of selection now available. Each year we work hard to provide our clients an extensive and diverse selection of materials. It can get a little mind-boggling to be honest, my recommendation when looking for materials on the site: use the searchbox.
It's easy to feel overwhelmed with all of the fly tying materials out there. If you're new to it stick to some of the classic recipes and branch out from there. Don't be afraid to experiment! The beauty of fly tying is expressing your creativity as well as tying the classics flies.
