If you cut the hair short on these, and put on a pair of orange/black pork rinds... you have a dead-on lobster imitation. Maybe that's why they work so well in the canal! Great for night time.

Though the Smiling Bill line is almost iconic in surfcasting by now I'd like to add a specific recommendation for the Cherry 4oz. First, trim the hair to within a half inch of the hook bend. Second, throw on a #57 red pork rind. 3rd, head to the CCC, cast, and proceed to slam stripers. While in reality it may not be that simple this jig was the center piece of my formative years at the Cape Cod Canal and to this day I wouldn't head there without at least a few in tow
